Viola/penumbra is an artistic studio at the centre of a global network of fashion creatives. Beauty, narrative depth and a constellation of refined details define the work, determining how brands are seen and understood.
Like the edge of the shadow (penumbra) of a flower (viola), the blueprint for
beauty is darkness and the light that surrounds it.
Every story is photographed or directed by Matthew Smith.
Matthew is the founder and editor-in-chief of True Love. A fine art and fashion photographer,
as well as a novelist and poet, his award-winning work has been published and
exhibited internationally.
He read English at Oxford University.
